Join our team as we expand into independent riding in a therapeutic setting.

We are looking for someone to teach riders who have leveled out of assisted Hippotherapy and are ready for more independent riding. This position can be tailored to the perfect candidate and their skills. 

About the Position

Here is Iron Horse we prioritize the patient's needs. Our primary focus has been occupational therapy using equine movement, where our patients are riding while being led and having postural assistance. As patients become stronger they rely less on our assistance. We have many patients ready to take the next step into independent riding. We are looking for the perfect candidate to fill this new role at our farm. That candidate can either be a skilled horse instructor that understands the special needs and neurodiverse communities OR an Occupational Therapist that has horse experience and is passionate about leading a group occupational therapy session on horses.

Minimum Requirments

• Proficient knowledge of riding
• Can pass a riding test
• Excellent verbal communication
• Ability to lead a group of riding students
• Willing to learn the skills of each horse
• Instructor AND/OR therapist
• Certified as a PATH OR CHA Riders with Disabilities instructor
• Willing to work Saturdays or Evenings
• Part-time position

Preferred Skills

• COTA or OT
• 2+ years of experience riding
• Experience with occupational therapy using equine movement.
• Trauma-informed
